NIDA — federal research on drug abuse and addiction including LGBTQ+ populations. Useful for queer people who've tried 12-step but found the rooms straight-by-default and hostile to identity work. Sober social events (queer sober dance nights, hikes, brunches) are organized in most metros. 12-step rooms vary widely; LGBTQ+ meetings exist precisely because traditional rooms can be hostile to identity work. All services free of charge to LGBTQ+ West Virginia residents and allies.
