National advocacy coalition working on behalf of diverse elders including LGBTQ+ older adults. Useful for elders whose biological family is estranged and who need chosen-family-aware support systems. Long-term care ombudsman services exist in every state — ask specifically about LGBTQ+ resident protections. Many LGBTQ+ elders went back into the closet when they entered nursing homes; SAGE-trained facilities are growing but still rare. All services free of charge to LGBTQ+ Maine residents and allies.
